As part of the Skills Network Bootcamp course I completed we were tasked to do an Instagram advert for any shoe at 40% off.
Research
First, I need to find a shoe! looking at stock images I chose a red Converse as my starting point. Then, I used competitor examples and previous marketing campaigns as a reference to gather inspiration and ideas for this ad.

I was now ready to start creating my imagery in Canva. I took the brightest red on the show from Converse and using colour theory I generated a contrasting colour that would make the ad stand out and catch the eye of potential customers when scrolling through Instagram.
Brainstorming
Looking at the time of year, I knew ads are between the Christmas and New Year phases, too late for Christmas presents and preparing for New Year's sales. I decided to direct my ad towards the New Year's sale as this made the most sense. As Converse are a well-known brand I know they call them all stars and as it is a shoe campaign I liked the idea of the headline saying “step” because this also links in with the new year resolution of getting your steps in for fitness so this could be used in further ads during the new years sales. I came up with “Step into the new year an all-star”. I felt this was a little too long so I edited it to “Step into 2024 and All-Star”.
Putting it all together
So now I had all my base elements, the shoe, the colours and the message!
When creating designs, I prefer to use Canva as my go-to tool. It's a user-friendly platform that allows me to integrate different elements seamlessly, from adding text to shapes and even removing backgrounds.
This was a short task, if I had more time I would play around a bit more with the font to match it more to the branding.
