Who knew Pinterest could be more than just a digital mood board for your wedding or home decor plans? While completing my digital marketing course with The Skills Network I discovered a whole new whole to it.
Pinterest has the potential to be the superhero of social media, with the power to promote businesses and drive traffic to websites. It's the perfect canvas to showcase your products, build your brand, and connect with customers.
But here's the twist: Pinterest is not just another social media platform. It's a search engine, meaning people are actively hunting for treasures, not just scrolling aimlessly. I have learnt by optimizing pins and boards with the right keywords, you can attract potential customers.
Why did I rarely use Pinterest?
Despite its popularity, I have personally found myself rarely using Pinterest.
The reason is simple: Pinterest can be a bit like a labyrinth, with so many images and ideas that it's hard to even know where to start. I'd rather use more straightforward platforms, where I can get to the nitty-gritty of what I'm looking for.
That being said, I get why Pinterest is a big deal. For those who love organizing ideas, party planning, and discovering new interests, it can be a jackpot of inspiration.
What drew me to start using Pinterest again?
During my digital marketing course with the Skills Network, we investigated what Pinterest can do in the world of digital marketing, and it was a game-changer!
As a digital marketer, I realised that Pinterest is the perfect platform to showcase my portfolio, connect with potential clients and partners, and stay up-to-date on industry trends. I can create custom boards that highlight my skills and knowledge in different areas and even include my blog posts and articles.
Changes and Insights Gained
Pinterest has had some updates, with Story Pins being the star of the show! It's like your own personal video studio, where you can add anything from text overlays to voiceovers to your content, think TikTok. In the world of social media, TikTok has almost eliminated plain old images and links! Story Pins has taken inspiration from TikTok to make it more interactive and exciting, giving users a new way to share their inspirations and ideas.
On another note, I did not realise Pinterest is a search engine, although I knew I was often redirected there when doing a Google search. This means using relevant keywords in your pins is a must-do! It's like adding a secret handshake to your content, making it easier for other users to discover it.
Integrating Pinterest into my life!
